Currently about 75% of all processed food in the USA has GMO ingredients. This is information you must understand if you eat anything made from corn, soybeans, alfalfa, canola, cottonseed oil, or wheat. The USA is currently the only country that does NOT require labels for GMO foods. (There is massive opposition to GMO's in europe).
GMO food is almost anything that comes in a box, can, or bag at the grocer (although GMOs are currently banned in the EU & Canada) - GMOs cause cancer, sterility, farmer suicides, and worse. The "organic" label means less than 5% contaminated; only "100% Organic" is safe and are typically labeled as GMO-frée. The safest milk is labeled "NO rBGH - NO rBST" - but those cows probably eat GMO alfalfa & pig feed (meat), and are pumped with antibiotics to combat factory farm diseases; the rBGH cows get udder infections (mastitis) and pus also gets in the milk; yes, all that stuff is STILL in the milk in the grocer (3%-19% pus).
100s of American farmers have been sued, and 1000s of foreign farmers have commit suicide by drinking Monsanto's Round-Up after their GMO "Round-Up Ready" crops fail. Once people understand HOW GMO food is created, it's easy to understand why we shouldn't be eating it nor releasing it into the environment.

How to identify ORGANIC fruits and vegetables
The PLU code (price lookup number), tells you the following:
- 5-digit number, beginning with the #9 = organic.
- 5-digit number, beginning with the #8 = GMO or genetically modified food.
- 4-digit number means grown by conventional (code for chemical) means.
The other numbers pertain to the actual product’s information,
different by store and location. |
